Israel Bike Tour

The wild landscapes and the modern cities of Israel

Discover the most beautiful roads that cross the Negev Desert, coast the Dead Sea and lead you to Jerusalem

A guided tour in the beautiful Jerusalem

A road tour designed to retrace some of the sections of the Giro d'Italia 2018: the Negev desert, the Dead Sea and Jerusalem. Local guide by bike, vehicle assistance for luggage transport and transfer service. Planned stages and overnight stays, daily mileage and height differences to be tackled at a cycling tourism pace. One of the "MUST" of this trip are the incredible natural wonders and beauties of the south, which offers breathtaking views, from sunrise to sunset. In the heart of Israel's great Negev desert is Ramon Crater, the largest crater in the world generated by erosion, also known as Makhtesh Ramon. Enclosed by a great variety of rocks of fantastic colors and shapes, this amazing natural phenomenon measures 40km in length and between 2 and 10km in width, shaped like an elongated heart it is Israel's largest national park, the Ramon nature reserve.

Itinerary

Day
1
Ovada (Eilat)

After the arrival at Ovada airport, transfer to the hotel, dinner and overnight in Eilat.

Day
2
Eilat, Mitzpe Ramon 98 km, 1.500 m

The route will take us along the Arava valley, between the beautiful mountain range of southern Jordan and the slopes of the Negev. Reaching Lotan, from where we will get on our bikes, we will leave the valley and begin the long and rather strenuous climb to the top of the central Negev ridge in Mitzpe Ramon. The roads here reward cyclists with some of the best views in this part of the Israeli desert, and when in Mitzpe Ramon a glimpse of " Makhtesh " is a great day to finish this day on the bike. Dinner and overnight in Mitzpe Ramon.

Day
3
Mitzpe Ramon, Yeruham 66 km, 600 m

The journey continues today along the highest part of the Negev. The rolling hills we cross were home to the Nabatien  kings of the desert 2000 years ago. This is also the region where young Israelis at the beginning of the state foundation decided to come and live, followed by Ben Gurion, the Prime Minister. The route today is less demanding in terms of climbs and we will eventually arrive at Yeruham. Dinner and overnight.

Day
4
Yeruham, Ein Bokek 102 km, 500 m

Shortly after leaving Yeruham, we will begin to descend through the "Makhtesh" to the east. In fact, today’s route will take us to go up towards the Great Rift of the Daed Sea, along old British roads, on gentle and undulating path: a nice ride, with the last part of the valley towards the hotel on the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight in Ein Bokek.

Day
5
Ein Bokek , Masada , Ein Bokek 73 km, 1,500 m

Today we will ride a loop, up to Arad in the highest part of the Judean desert, along the road to Masada, and then on the eastern side of this National Park. It is a challenging climate, from 400m below sea level to 600m above. The visit to the Masada is on foot, we will find our bikes on the other side of the mountain to descend down east. Dinner and overnight in Ein Bokek.

Day
6
Ein Bokek , Jerusalem 91 km, 1.400 m

Our last day on the bike will take us to the city ??of Jerusalem. We will cross the Judean Hills and the Valley of Ella region, and begin the real climb east, through the mountains of Jerusalem, one of Israel's most famous regions for road cycling. The scenery is amazing and the feeling of arriving in town on a bicycle is a truly special experience. Dinner and overnight inJerusalem.
